Getting started
Overview
The threadModeler has been developed to allow Inventor users to generate a realistic modeled equivalent thread based on an existing Inventor thread feature.

Preconditions
The threadModeler command is only active in parts. You find it in the coolOrange ribbon:
Workflow:
- Make an Inventor part with a geometry where you want to put a thread
- Call command
Threadfrom the ribbon "3D model"
- Select geometry where you want to put the thread. In the Thread dialog specify the Thread Type you want to insert.
When you press theOKbutton, a thread pattern is put on the geometry. - Call command
threadModelerfrom the coolOrange ribbon:
- The threadModeler Control dialog opens
- Select the thread feature in the Inventor browser (Remark: You cannot select the thread in the model geometry)
- Select the Thread Sketch Tempate e.g. ISO Template.ipt
Remark: There are 2 templates available:- BSW Template.ipt
- ISO Template.ipt
- Press the
OKbutton and the thread will be modeled
Installation
Download and Installation
Like all other coolOrange plug-ins you can download it from the Autodesk App Store. The installation is pretty straight forward. Just run the msi file and follow the instructions.

If the coolOrange ribbon does not appear you need to unblock the App, in the Inventor the Add-In Manager. (See image on the right.)
Open the Add-In manager (from the ribbon Tools -> Options/Add-Ins)
Select the coolOrange-ThreadModeler
Unblock the app.
Activate the checkboxes "Loaded/Unloaded" and "Load Automatically".
Uninstall
You can unload the plugin without uninstalling it by unchecking the "Loaded/Unloaded" check box associated with the plugin in the Inventor Add-In Manager.
You may have to restart Inventor to completely unload the application.
To remove the plugin completely, Right Mouse Button click and uninstall the application using the Exchange App Manager tool, located on the Ribbons Tools tab > Options Panel.
To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button.
OR, you can uninstall it from 'Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features' (Windows 7/10), just as you would uninstall any other application from your system.

To get it to work with 2021 simply navigate to this file:
open c:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\coolOrange_threadModeler.bundle\Contents\coolOrange.ThreadModeler.Inventor.addin and edit
(you can use notepad) and change the line
<SupportedSoftwareVersionGreaterThan>20..</SupportedSoftwareVersionGreaterThan>21
<SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>26..</SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>26
Restart the program and itll load in!
